I don't care what your crimes are. If you work, YOU GET PAID! PERIOD! If anyone is forced to work without being paid for it, then it is slavery; plain and simple. Prisoners who work must be required to be paid the federal minimum wage. Now, half of that can be deducted to help cover the cost of feeding, clothing, and sheltering them. But the other half then needs to be put into a bank account that they will have access to once they serve their time and get out. And on a side note...Convict Poker? SICK, SICK, SICK! And don't even get me started on 7:45. This degenerate piece of shit is actually complaining about losing his SLAVES.

While anyone who watches John Oliver will disagree with Trump's policies, John Oliver missed the point on family migration. With family migration, the elderly parents of these new immigrants will come to the U.S. way above working age. They will no longer contribute to the economy and will just use/abuse medicare, without paying into it. Trump is trying to limit family migration and improve the current work visas.

with all of his bad qualities, Trump at least understands cause & effect. he tried to wash his hands from the US's destructive campaign in Syria, which constantly killed any chance for peace and stability in that country> we all know what happened then. everyone in Washington and on mass media attacked him. this show and this channel advocated for regime change wars which create more humanitarian crises. you want to welcome a lone survivor of war that you initiated, that's fine. you just cannot claim the moral high-ground because you did so.. just remember, Abraham Lincoln abolished slavery, and Barack Obama reinstated it in Libya

Looking back at the last two and half years. Economy doing great. The wall is being built. He forced Mexico to man up on its borders by putting 27k soldiers to stop mass invasions. Isis destroyed. Unemployment is at record lows for blacks, hispanics, women. We literally have more jobs then people to fill them. Wages are finally going up. New trade deals with Canada, Mexico and Japan (If democrats give trump a win and pass it). China brought to heal on trade. Their economy is at a 27 year low (which is their fault for not making the negotiated agreement and backing out at the last moment). Lowered taxes to corporation from the highest in the world to 21% thus bringing manufacturing jobs back. Trump cleared by Mueller forcing an end to a deep state coup de'tete. Obama's legacy completely in tatters. In truth Trumps successes are too many to name. Overall I give him strong B+ on job performance. Looking forward to the next election. Just imagine, if Trump won in 2016 with people not being sure he would keep his promises. Just how will people vote now when he has PROVEN that he will. Looks like its going to be a tough 2020 for John.

So, 2 mil people applied. If we gave all 2 mil people the ability to come here, this country would soon be filled. We would have to take out more trees and fields and build more housing developments and apartments and infrastructure to house them. So, the people that are crazy about the climate change are also the ones that feel we should let people come and go which makes zero sense. We would have an influx of millions of people. Where would they go? There has to be a cap. There just has to be. It sucks that people have bad situations but we cant fix the world and some people just have bad lives. You cant blame anyone for that.

Πριν 3 ώρες
C Schmi
C Schmi

@Stephen2462 You really didnt. I wasnt saying anything about where they live as having an effect on climate change. I was saying that the people that think its ok to let 2 mil people into the country at a time are just as crazy as the people that think we can stop climate change lol. What I'm saying is, if you have a national platform and you criticize the government but dont bring anything of substance to the conversation and dont actually specify your position, all you're doing is leaving it up to the nation to think they know what you're saying which then causes arguing. He's feeding the fire of hate by just saying everything that the administration is doing wrong. Sure, its not perfect but Obama, Clinton, and Bush all did it the same way. They just didnt talk about it so the american public had no idea. I think putting this specifically on Trump is ignorant and foolish. I'm not a Trump finatic either. I know he's an idiot.

Πριν ώρα
Stephen2462

@C Schmi Suuuuuure I didn't. (That was sarcasm btw) So because he's arguing against one extreme position, you're assuming he's in favor of a comparably extreme position on the opposite end of the spectrum? That's a huge jump in logic lol. And still a strawman. Probably because he doesn't have a solid idea or opinion on how many should be let in to begin with. And that's fine; nobody really does except extremist idiots.

Πριν ώρα
C Schmi
C Schmi

@Stephen2462 You didnt understand what I was saying with the climate change comment. Obvioulsy he didnt say they all should be let in, but he didnt say how many he thought should let in. Which is how he gets away with saying what he does cause its one thing to criticize and its a complete other thing to actually come up with a way to fix it. All he does is criticize.

Πριν ώρα
Stephen2462
Stephen2462

He's not suggesting EVERYONE be let in lol. That's just a strawman argument. Climate change isn't perticularly relevent because it's just a matter of people moving from one place to another; they're still consuming resources either way. The bigger issues are our reliance on nonrenewablds and our per capita consumption.

Warehouse jobs are easy. They are not hard. I've worked in a variety of warehouse jobs (Kroger distribution warehouse, Federal-Mogul warehouse, etc) and none of them were hard. The hardest part is unloading a trailer they packed floor to ceiling, wall to wall so you can't easily pick up the items with a forklift. And how it comes in can be determined by the warehouse. They can refuse a trailer if it's not packed how they want it or everything has fallen over. It may get warm in the warehouse (can't air condition most warehouses, they are too big/too expensive) or chilly in the winter (same reasons), but you just dress for the occasion. The work itself is basically pulling items off a shelf and putting them on a conveyor belt or placing them on the loading dock, with maybe a packaging stage in between. I've done physically hard labor jobs and mentally challenging jobs. Warehouse jobs are easy physically and mentally.

I fundamentally disagree with the premise that just because someone once wrote a poetic line or two on the statue of liberty that we should forever be expected to be held to that standard. That was appropriate for the time in which it was written. We were trying to build a nation back then. So "hey'all come on over!" That was fine for that time. But now we are trying to keep from busting our backs or ruining our own economy. It's a different time and a different situation. DO YOU REALIZE HOW MUCH OF THE WORLD RELIES ON OUR FARM LANDS?!?!?!? So don't show one open farm field and say "See, there's still room for more immigrants."

Oliver: "The lines that do exist can be prohibitively long or have sudden dead ends. And for many people, and this is really important, there simply isn't a line at all." Okay, then just don't come here. Stay in your own country or go somewhere else. There's no right to for everyone in the world to come to America. Oliver and his ilk want to set up an immigration system that's like applying for a driver's license: As long as you meet the requirements, you automatically get it. That's not how immigration works, nor how it should work. Just because someone can come here doesn't mean we have any obligation to accept them. Ideally immigration should be more like a job interview: You turn in your resume, and the nation that reviews it gets full autonomy on whether or not to accept you based entirely on what is best for them. When considering accepting immigrants, the host nation should have full sovereignty over who they do or do not accept, for any reason. It should be no different then an individual getting to determine who gets to live in their house. Just because someone can't get in here legally doesn't mean there is a flaw in the system, or that they should have a free pass to come illegally. If you can't immigrate to a place legally, just accept it and move on.

Πριν 5 ώρες
TheStapleGunKid

@Jun Huh Child statements? So it's childish to stay in your own nation or go somewhere else that wants you? It's childish to respect another nation's sovereignty and the rule of law? Well if you think those things are childish, I'd hate to see your view of adulthood. Really it seems like you didn't read my post at all. I didn't say legal immigration was an easy process. I said it doesn't matter if it isn't. That's up to us. If we chose to make our immigration process highly selective and complex, there is nothing wrong with that. There is no human right to live in a specific country. We are free to make our immigration policies as restrictive or open as we feel comfortable with. The notion that every person on earth has the right to come here if they meet the requirements is the real "child statement".
