I get why she was embarrassed about getting her cosmetic stuff from her parents' bulk stash, but I dunno maybe it's because we didn't grow up with much or because me and my parents were close, but as long as she had their permission I don't see the big deal. It is more adult and responsible to shop for yourself--I know "borrowing" makeup from my mom was a big part of my growing up. It's not wonderful, but I'm not alone. I just feel like it's good to save money where you can and the adult thing is to have permission and to not just take. Having permission is acknowledging that you aren't under their financial care. They spend their money, you spend your money. It's not a bad example, I just don't think this is the worst thing to do if you have the option.

Wouldn't it be better for parents of adult kids still living at home to make the kid pay a certain amount at the time.the bills were actually due. And rent on the room. As well as rent on the storage area you use. So that when you get out on your own it's not a shock.

Money makes relationships sore. Doesn't mean children blindly spent their parents money or their own for that matter. And as humans we're capable enough to make that shift when the need be. But if parents happen to be not acknowledging your need for privacy and expect you to always stay under their umberalla; codependency of sort, your suggestion maybe useful there.

Cleanliness was one for me. My mom died of colon cancer, and was on chemotherapy while living at home my senior year of high school. So my siblings and I had to keep the house as clean as a hospital. Had an aversion to it after that on top of the fact that I'm a dishwasher. I clean everything I see 40 hours a week. Fortunately, I've come to terms with at least the cleaning bit, and have a reliable routine for myself now. So glad my apartment is small and easy to keep clean!!

Even though I live with my parents, if I want to eat, I have to cook. For a long time its been my job to plan out meals for the week, because Im mostly the only one who cooks. My mom gave up around my early teens and honestly Im glad. Making sauces and flavoring things is awesome. No more plain chicken thrown in the oven for me. Plus even though the point of living with parents is to save money I still payed them 'rent' to help cover expenses. Now that Im going to live by myself Im just worried I'll budget everything correctly now that my expenses arent just giving my mom some bucks and everything else for essentials/savings/frivolous things I dont need.

While I love this list and you make really excellent observations, I feel I should comment on how some of these should be considered from another perspective aside from the "maturing from adolescence to adulthood" one. Food: while a lot of young adults will naturally start to notice that eating a certain way makes them feel worse than another and because of budget and personal health start to gravitate towards being conscious to making better choices, this isn't such a cut and dried issue for a large number of people. For those using food as a coping mechanism, to people with EDs to people coming from poverty using hoarding food for self-soothing, I think it's important to point out that food buying/eating habits and eating habits are not simple maturity issues. Clothes/home decorations: similar to the food, both of these can be used a self-soothing techniques. Observing your personal patterns to find out if you buy to feel security or to reward or for a simple need is a good way to assess yourself, especially if you are buying things when you have no need, room or the finances to buy. Again, children coming from poor families often struggle with finding a balance here when restrictions are removed (they get their first home without parents or their first job). It's not a maturity issue but a reaction to trauma and should be handled with re-parenting and new self-soothing techniques.

Hi there. Lately I have been watching a lot of videos from this channel. Thank you for providing so much information to your viewers. If you don't mind, I would just like to say that the choice of chair and the frame of video requires a little more consideration. I can see that the background is on the low side of the cost to manage the channel. However the posture that your viewers see can subconsciously influence how they perceive you. To me, you seem to appear as an authoritative and pushy figure because of the way your hands are resting and the way the frame focuses on your body. I don't think that is who you are in person but it does discourage me from looking at the video. I can focus only on the audio but I think a video that can be eye-friendly / pleasant helps with increasing your subscription. I hope this feedback is helpful to you and your team.

I found that my fun friends that I chose as roommates were financially irresponsible and ended up living on my own. (in DC). Before I left home (NY), I had a complete set of dishes, pots and linens that I slowly accumulated, along with a nice sleeper love seat. I felt that the convenience and coziness of my apartment was much more important than my social life. Using thrift shops and yard sales to buy needed household items saved me a fortune, as well as purchasing classic style clothing on sale and keeping it for years.

Good advice. Good luck to you and all of you guys who are at this stage in their life. I am a grown man, 've been through this..tried different things..failed a few times..stumbled..got back and now in a very stable state financially and socially. Here is what I have to say based on my experience 1. There is no one recipe for success. Neither are there guarantees that if you do certain things in a certain way you will achieve a certain outcome. Everyone will have a different experience and will figure it out in their own way. World would be a very boring place if there were one size fits all rules for success as success can mean different things to different people. 2. Life's too short, strive to make it better(financially/socially) and enjoy things that you want to and can enjoy at this time in your life. Don't postpone today's small happiness for some unknown bigger happiness or achievement/milestone of the future that you might or might not achieve.Don't worry too much about acting a in certain restricted way or make senseless sacrifices just to make yourself feel that you are doing the right thing. You will regret it later. Obviously don't go out and start drinking/smoking or indulge any self destructive things. Use good judgement. 3. Improve yourself by learning skills that can eventually liberate you from working for others. 4. Find time for your loved ones. Nobody ever regretted not meeting a deadline or not making that presentation on their deathbed. 5. Surround yourself with non whiners and happy people. Indulge in some sport.. avoid debt as much as you can. Be thankful, you have a lot of things and luxuries that a lot of people don't.

One thing you may not have taken into consideration is that some women with lower voices naturally talk like this sometimes. I am a second alto and can do some tenor parts when singing, so I have a naturally lower speaking voice. While up speak is definitely associated with trends and certain peer groups, spreading through mimickry, for some people vocal fry is a natural part of the way they speak. For instance, I vocal fry much more when I feel horrible (I'm chronically ill so I have more occasion to notice that) than when I have more energy. Some days I don't do it much at all. When I'm around kids and I tend to pitch my voice a little higher I don't really do it. But when I'm in my natural register it slips in some. It's true that when it's used excessively, especially by people who wouldn't naturally have this vocal tendency, it may also be part of the "fad" their peer group is into. It's not purely a natural aspect of speech for every person who does it now. But since she's a lower pitched person, it may be more difficult for her to just will it away. I've had to practice my speech patterns and breathing to progress with my vocal training, so I *can* do it, but it is not natural for me, fad or no. I know it bugs some people to no end, but some people also sound nasal. Everyone has a thing. It takes all kinds to make a world.

Living on your own is great to learn to sustain yourself on your own, to kinda learn what a person even needs to do that and the effort it takes and it's one step closer to caring for your family. But if I were American I'd live in my parents' home until I pay off that debt. That's also a way to be motivated to be more responsible - work more, plan more for the future so you can move out sooner. But honestly... Americans and their student debt... how can you be so consumerish having that?
