I dunno, I've been watching these videos about the model industry being more diverse but it kind of seems like they look for the same type of face features. It's always a person with perky nose, plump lips, etc...

The purpose of a model is to show what clothes look like on a body as opposed to a person. It’s helpful to regular and plus size people to see what those clothes look like on our body type too. I’m glad plus and curvy models are becoming more mainstream. Keep it up!

I can not believe these people are models. Nothing special to look at. Naomi was special. Claudia was special. Paulina was special. These are garbage!!! This is just to make everyone feel good when modeling should only be for the few genetically blessed ones. Someone to admire and aspire to be! There is nothing inspiring here but obese, average looking and odd looking women talking about inclusiveness. That is NOT what being a model is all about!!

I remember Chanel Iman was the only black model in the Versace spring 2010 show. Jourdan was the only black model doing Chanel for a time. It was always either her or Chanel Iman for a time.

Well, in Europe, it should not be a big deal to see lots of white models, it's Europe! If U start an industry in South Africa (there is agencies there too) and India like we have here, you will have less european looking models there. I bet if you go to Japan and see lots of asian models on the runway, nobody complains about it being "less diverse". I find it nice to see models of different sizes and colors, but if we are talking about certain types of dresses for example, if you show them on a big model of 80 kg, it just will not be easy to see the tailoring, and that's what U want to show to sell it. In the 80s you had models like Elle, Cindy ...with a very healthy weight and shape. It's good to have more healthy models, that do not starve themselves to fit into the too little dresses. But to say we need more plus size models that just look very overweight, is not realistic to me. And they call them curvy, very bad Word in this context really...a woman like Sofia Vergara is curvy, not a big woman with no waist and super big arms, if U know what I mean.

Tbh I feel sad that I’ve been conditioned to not be able to see Alek Wek’s nose and my own nose as beautiful. Her skin and soul is beautiful to me but not her nose, which I find ugly and undesirable. I have a somewhat ethnic nose which I secretly wish to change but don’t dare to act upon it at the risk of losing my looks. I wish there were actionable ways we could learn to reprogram our beauty ideals beyond just waiting for mainstream media, the fashion industry and social media to get fully onboard. You might chide me but these are my honest thoughts and I wish I had the tools to break away.

I think ifnthe designer has a certain look in mind, like only pale skinny girls for example, brown or black girls shouldn't take so much offence. Sometimes you just dont fit the look the designer wanted to create, but it does not mean you're less beautiful or insignificant, new doors will open for you where you will be exactly what a designer is looking for, keep shining!

Tokenism ... the horrible game this industry plays. They did it with Naomi and Tyra. They tried to black ball Naomi, if it wasn’t for Christy, Linda, Yves, Alaïa and Gianni and others, Naomi wouldn’t have been able to reach her true potential. Alek has walked for Chanel HC and pret a porter many times, even though I do believe Karl always had his girl du jour, there wasn’t always a lot of “diversity” 20 years ago. It’s sad that they only have so many spots for “diverse” looking models. The show isn’t about the model wearing the clothing it’s about the clothing. The models only bring it the garment to life. Magazines should NOT only choose models of colour that have more Europeanized features or straight hair or skinny. Not every woman is a size 00, magazines and runway shows should reflect the diversity that is found within the human race. And yes, vogue as a bible should help lead the change. Not just an all black issue, but in every issue. I use buy vogue every month for years and I refuse to support that and all conde nast publications due to the narrow view of beauty the continue to show.

AHAHAHA PLEASE! Full of casting where you are not allowed becouse you are brown hair or vice-versa, they don't need a blonde one. Sometimes they need asian girl, sometimes they want black skin, sometimes only caucasian... sometimes a "mother" sometimes a teenager, or children, because they fit the product. Discrimination is not "we want a caucasian girl", that's a customer's choice. Discrimination is worst than this.

Notice how they always promote plus size models with other groups of people. Yall should have a problem with that. And I know its necessary but i am so sick of majority of plus size models using their image for only body positivity and politicals.. while I do understand it, there should be a balance.
