Houston Dynamo will look to stretch an unbeaten home run to eight games when they host the dangerous D.C. United Saturday night in this Week 12 match-up of the 2019 MLS Regular Season.
lazy DC defending, Houston deserved it
4 minute video. 2nd half in 20 seconds. The MLS as Garber intended.
The level of play is equal to that of the NWSL :D
Being a D.C. United supporter honestly feels weird this season for me. We have gotten good results recently and despite this loss we are still in 2nd place in the East. But for some reason I feel unsatisfied, I feel sometimes our style of play still isn't MLS Cup contenders just yet.
@david sabillon I understand what your getting at but what I mean with me not being satisfied is because of the way we have been playing recently even when we win games, we've been relying way too much on Bill Hamid and sadly we've been struggling with injuries in our defense. We have great attacking players and a very good midfield but honestly our defense has a lot to improve to be MLS Cup contenders, thankfully we have one of the best goalkeepers in MLS to help us with that. And to be fair to Bruce Arena, he is our most successful coach, give him a chance.
Bro I don't want to hear your complaining man. Try being a Revs supporter 😞. The club has been talking about a new stadium since.....1995. we don't even have an artist rendering of what it could look like. We're just now building a training grounds. It's 2019! We had to hire your old coach. I have a list of more things but you get the point. Your club is in a position to win another 🤮 MLS cup. You sound like a pats fan, OMG we're 12-4 but I don't know... It just feels different.
When is Memo Rodriguez gonna get call up?
Rooney is the best.
rooney bhawin guy is trash and old he has to retire
Great Game by Houston Dynamo.
Ap mera sat khel ke dekho
Bhai’s hmm apse acha sniping kar sakte hai
I’m not a Dynamo fan but it’s good to see the stadium more filled.
I'm not either but it does make me happy too 😁
Lets go Dynamo!!
I was at this game yesterday and wow whant a comeback a great game by my home team Dynamo
Good for you man 👏. Keep supporting them and join a group to make a tifo.
Let's show the ref watching the replay instead of showing the replay.
DC really are a shambles in defence. Without hamid it would have been far worse.
What are they doing? Why not show the replay of the red. They show the ref running to the var screen, then running back and showing red. Not a single replay or slowmo during all this. That's so stupid!!
Disappointing from DC United 😡
46' Wayne Rooney (0-1); 67' Memo Rodriguez (1-1); 68' Thomas McNamara (2-1); 85' Paul Arriola (Red card D.C. United)
Remember when idiot DC fans thought they were gonna win the MLS cup ?
hey we still are, we the best
so glad to see the MACATTAK is back!
Dynamo really play better than DC. No doubt
Waoooo houston won, i don't know why great club tryna take houston for granted. They will embarras u like they did to LA galaxy n cost them play off last season
Acosta bad guy in the game..u don't give him chance
Good win men in Orange...Go Dynamo... FOREVER ORANGE!
Happy to see a hyped up Houston supporter 👍.
A fabulous team, a fabulous stadium... Where have all the fans gone? What's the excuse for so many empty seats against an also great team?
The that were there are just as good as any. If that place gets jamming that's a legit home field advantage.
@Greg Devlin Yeah, and I'm not even trying to badmouth Dynamo fans, on the contrary. MLS scheduling games in very torrid climates for the middle of the afternoon just baffles me... I wouldn't go to a game like that unless I was a masochist and wanted to boil for about 2 hours. What's with games in Florida, Texas, and California being scheduled during the hottest periods of the day? I don't get it. Hats off to the many people who do go to watch those games live... As a proud Canuck, I'd rather go walkabout in Afghanistan.
Norman Rand Wolfe the rockets are the same way, I think it's accessibility to the stadium as they are downtown with majority of greater Houston having to travel across the city of games
VAR for fouls? So they're gonna review every DIVE too now?
Yellow and Red cards warrant a review. Fouls that don't result in a booking are not VAR reviewable
I thought when I saw it live, Arriola's stomp looked to be him stumbling and accidentally stepping on Lundqvist. As a Dynamo fan I didn't think it was worthy of a red. I was fine with the yellow for the initial foul. After watching the ref look at the replay live and not seeing a replay then. I'm puzzled as to why don't they show us what the ref is seeing even after the game?!?!
My theory. It's a bad look for the MLS to have this stuff happening in our league. That's probably why
He kicked the back of his head AFTER our #3 was down and curled up. Arriola has more than enough time to jump or go around.
Fans at the game represent!! Section 224, that game was hot 🔥🔥 Birnbaum got booed by us for being a shithead and injuring our Elis! The Macnamara curse has been broken it seems!! Manotas needs better ball control and freaking Adam Lundqvist is the GOAT! That Swede should have gotten player of the game!! Gonna buy a flag so my boy can feel more at home at the BBVA.
I feel bad for hamid with that defense I would have quit right there
They had been playing better than that, I don't know what they were on tonight.
I love to see Tommy McNamara play and get a goal. He truly looks like the average joe playing ball in the park on the weekend. Houston finally has the real T-MAC. Tracy McGrady? No way. TOMMY MCNAMARA.
Dynamo all orange kit is glorious.
Reminds me of the ditch kit. Looks sharp
@m g my thoughts exactly
Thats right, it's the glorious traditional kit of the Netherlands
Listen to that Houston crowd! Especially the eruption after the Rodriguez goal. And the horns. If Houston fully filled the stadium regularly it would be one of the loudest, most liveliest atmospheres in MLS. The ones that always show are passionate and loud.
The supporters that were there are as passionate as any supporters. Houston has a bright future.
mcriii I was at the game and it was so loud because they finally scored after multiple wasted opportunities, like 20
mcriii those are trumpets bro not horns lol
And people say Bill Hamid is the best American GK/best GK in the league. First the mistake vs. Columbus, and now this performance. Two very saveable shots IMO
@randogg 781 Thanks man! I totally respect your opinion and I definitely acknowledge that Hanid is an extremely talented keeper. As a Sounders fan myself, as well as being a goalie myself I've certainly enjoyed watching some of the very good saves he's made in MLS over the past few years, but I've enjoyed Frei more. I wouldn't for a second say I'm not biased towards him being a Sounders fan, but I think since the start of last year he's been the best keeper in the league. Maybe if Hamid had a full season last year he would've been moreso in the conversation, but like I said he came in mideay through and DC had a ton of their games at home. Nevertheless, I think both are fantastic talents and I'm happy to be able to watch both of them play in MLS. I wish all the best to you and DC United, unless you're playing the Sounders Haha. Have a nice day man!
@tate anderson well it's obvious that I'm a big DCU fan and have been since 96.With that being said not only have I watched every game this season but have been watching Bill Hamid every since his career started as DCU first homegrown player promoted to first team. I agree that at the end of day a lot of intangibles goes into a goal keeper net results. But I and a lot of fans of MLS will tell you that it's been many of games that without stellar play from Hamid, DCU would have lost or never received an result. I never have claimed him to be the best but definitely top 4 in the last 5 that he's played full season. It's been a nice debate enjoy the rest of this season and seasons to come.
@randogg 781 Firstly, I think clean sheets are such an arbitrary statistic when it comes to goalkeepers. While I definitely acknowledge keepers CAN make a huge impact on whether or not their team gets a clean sheet, it's also massively dependent on the defense and midfield. Like if you took Alisson or Neuer or any world class keeper and put him on the Rapids behind their so-called "defense" this season he would very likely have less clean sheets than Bill Hamid. And, on the other, a keeper can "earn" a clean sheet by not touching the ball all game, literally just standing there and watching their team defend. Admittedly, I haven't watched every DC United game this year and based on his total saves and shots faced I dont think that second scenario has necessarily been the case. But that TFC game could have skewed the stats, as well idk. But all that being said, I'm essentially just trying to say clean sheets is a pretty dismissable stat in terms of goalkeepers, because it's just so random. I think total saves is a better stat, as well as save percentage. Hamid is narrowly in first in both those stats as well, but he's also played 1 more game than Frei, so he could easily catch him when that game is made up. I will say what I have seen from Hamid this season seems to me as being inconsistent. The blunder vs Columbus, the thumping vs LAFC, the 2 pretty saveable goals imo vs Houston, etc. And that's why he's down so far on my list, but I'll also say your list seems pretty reasonable. I thought all this time you were trying to say he was the best keeper in MLS? But you put him third, or kind of second because Zack is now gone, but I'd say that's pretty reasonable and I can get behind that tbh. As long as Frei is ahead of Hamid I'm fine with it.
@tate anderson Bill Hamid currently leads MLS keepers in clean sheets but let you tell it only one good game okay whatever makes you sleep better at night. My List:(1) Zack Steffen (2) Frie(3)Bill Hamid (4) Andre Blake (5) pick em, contrary to your belief stats are facts. Bill Hamid has much to do with DCU success from last season continuaing to this year as Wayne Rooney, Acosta, Arieola, and Canouse.
@randogg 781 I mean look up highlights of any player in any league and that will make them llok good lol. Here's my list: 1. Steph Frei 2. Andre Blake 3. Maxime Crepeau (he's been great for Vancouver this season) 4. Bill Hamid 5. Idk who cares Before Zack Steffen left he would have been 3rd. Bill Hamid has been average in every game this season apart from the TFC game and that's the truth
Good job Houston this team is doing great this season.
I don't know, I think Smalling-Jones will provide better defense than DC defenders. 🤷🏻♂️
@tate anderson I'm not saying MLS teams should buy top-tier defenders. There's a lot young talents out there, let's say from Africa, or Eastern Europe, probably not so expensive that can be brought to the league. I think good players aren't always expensive. But like you said about the rules, and I don't really know MLS rules, so I just hope MLS can develop better, in every aspect. On the pitch, and off the pitch. 👍🏻
@Hafiz Y. Aprilian It's difficult to spend big chunks of money on defenders when you only have 3 DP slots aka 3 positions you can spend big chunks of change on. Think of it as you can pick any 3 players in the entire world to build your team around and the rest you have to find guys off the street. (this is a very extreme example and let the record show I do not consider non-DP players as players off the street). Most people would go for the great attackers, the Messi, Ronaldo, Mbappe, maybe some midfielders like Modric or Kante, but very few would probably select a defender because you need to score goals to win soccer games. And guys off the street aren't going to be scoring any goals. It's very easy for you to sit behind your computer and just say MLS should have better defenders, but there is just very little opportunity for MLS teams to invest their money into those top-tier defenders with how the rules and regulations for MLS clubs are right now.
When MLS clubs do spend money they usually spend it for attacking players. Solid, consistent defense will probably arrive when the academies are fully developed in the years ahead.
@tate anderson yes you're absolutely right. I think MLS development is good at this rate. But my point is MLS teams need to defend better, while you can see they have very good attacking players, like bringing talents from Europe or South America that we all know these regions have very mature football/soccer culture. cmiiw
Considering they're starting for a top 6 team in the Premier League, you're probably right. They'd probably provide better defending than any defense in MLS right now. Don't get me wrong I'm not a eurosnob trying to say MLSers can't defend or that the league is trash, I love MLS, but I think you're forgetting that those 2 are still top tier athletes, even if they look foolish at times playing against legitimately some of the best attackers in the world. So yes, you are probably right
Ok little messi i see you 1:12 well done, way to stand your ground Houston 💪🏾
My ears hurt sense I was wearing earphones as soon as he scored the goal
I think people are starting to like the dynamo which I love to see as a mls fan, now just need to see more fans at red bulls games.
That last game vs Atlanta United that Red bulls stadium was pretty lit up with fans. At least y'all have a place, the Revs don't even have an artist rendering of one yet 😞
@Rick Kimotho no like if they on a streak or not, since you most likely can only afford to watch a couple of games is not about that and also competing with the Astros for things to do in the weekend, if it was less expensive I would be going constantly, if they lose a game I watched I dont care since I'm there to support
@David Martinezwin or lose, that's the reason for being a fan.
@David Martinez how are you gonna know if it's worth it when the outcome is there yet?
@David Martinez I'd go whether we're winning or losing
As a Revs fan I'm happy to see the Houston fans celebrating a home win. If y'all can sell out that place it would give you a 12th man. 🤔
You’re in every comment section
I"ve never seen that stadium full. 75% max.
david sabillon yeah no
🇺🇸 ⚽️ Something has to change for Houston Dynamo, in particular with their attendance. If things don’t improve, then possibly them losing their MLS licence might have to happen, they use to have fantastic attendance in this stadium. The same goes with FC Dallas and now they are bringing in Austin FC in a few years, I hope they do better with their attendance. What’s next for expansion, San Antonio? ⚽️
Having English broadcasts rather than occasional podcast would be nice!
Johnny if I'm not mistaken that stadium was built near downtown ,and I remember what the crowds looked like when it first opened.
What Houston need to do is to promote their soccer teams (both the Dash and Dynamo). On a typical day I see so many ads for the Astros on tv. As for the Dynamo ads there is basically nothing.
I dont get why people always bash Houston for attandance. I would rather have actual passionate fans that care about the team and not a whole bunch of plastic fans like Seattle or Atlanta. Plus there are other teams with worse attendance than Houston
maybe its the location of the stadium? maybe its out in the suburbs and takes 40min to get there for people living downtown?
Come to look only Rooney score (Ole sign Rooney back please).
Sure buddy. He's way too slow now
Wouldn't that be something
Let’s go Houston! Beating Rooney and DC United 👌
love it when dc scum loses!!!!!!
1:17 Earrape warning
The crowd was loud
Elis is too good. He needs to go to Europe instead of just chilling in Houston
@slyrooster1241 It is a step down.
@mcriii There's another Honduran player on Celtic that's why the talks started. And the Scottish premiership is not a step down. If a lot of the u.s. men's national team plays on ligue 1 teams for the efl I think the Scottish premiership would still be a step up.
@slyrooster1241 I see no reason for him to go to Celtic. Scottish Premiership would be a step down.
slyrooster1241 Hopefully they can, if Elis leaves. I just hope the front office doesn’t limit their budget to 1 penny and find some cheap player that does nothing.
@maccmps1 For 10 million I'm sure we can find a suitable replacement. Hopefully one with as much creativity as Elis
First to watch and comment. Lol. Ihnbtd
