The true reason that passsagers arrive on Heathrow so much eariler is that because the traffic on M25 delays 18 hours everyday. Everytime I go there, I queue for about half hour. there was on time I queued for a little more than 1 hour.

WoW, honestly, although on my master in a business related subject, I never noticed how complex the airport business is. I always try to analyze how a business makes a profit when I'm in the area, but never did that to airports! Next time I know how I'll spend my usually 1 hour wait at the airport and will even save some money trading buying things to acquire knowledge. Great video!

It seems like the best of both worlds would be to have entirely privatised/commercial airports but have the government pay the companies enough to do certain routes so that it is profitable for the company to continue doing the route. The company is well run through privatisation and the public service is maintained without the need for the government having to take over the entire company and over-complicating things. That's what we are currently doing in the UK with Translink, it was privatised but some of its routes are subsidised. It seems to be the best of both worlds.

No class analysis. or the scale of profit (stolen labour) the few owners of Heathrow actually make. UK airports seem to have a very similar "economic" model UK rail has, as in all the profitable models that could make the government money are sold off to the "highest bidder" while the government buy back train lines which aren't profitable.

I'm from town (Newburgh) where they sold it back to the government. It ended up being a better solution for the port authority to own it because they completed renovations and were able to introduce Norwegian Air started flying to Europe and on top of the American and Delta flights to their hub and JetBlue to Florida, they introduced low cost airlines as well. Also, it used to be an Air Force base and still is an air national guard base, so regulations are probably much tighter and a private company doesn't have a lot of room to play with. It is so secure that almost every leader that comes to New York for meetings at the UN fly into Newburgh including Air Force 1, so it wouldn't be an ideal airport to be privatised.

Also you have to get to the airport and check in at leat 2 hours before your flight... I know it’s incase of a long queue for security and check in but if it’s a breeze then you have a lot of time in the airport for shopping, eating etc

So does the policies of cost for departure and arival change for this airline that has a hub that airport ??

the point, why cargo is not much in London, might be rather because it is not showing up, remains unknown. Nowadays planes are configured to carry lots of cargo, e.g.the A-330 can take 70 tonnes of freight. So actually the airlines do not make money with passengers anymore. They make money with the freight. Thats why some airlines do not even bother about paying passengers, they take their passengers to any place for $19 dollars. But they make money with cargo.

Heathrow Airport Holidings actually ran Indianapolis International, Pittsburgh International, Boston International Airport, and Baltimore-Washington International Airport. If the private HAH couldn't run them efficiently (profitably yes, efficiently no), than how could they own them at the same time?

This makes me think a lot about our local international airport, PDX (Portland International in Oregon), to which the airport is owned near-entirely by the Port of Portland (who also owns Hillsboro & Troutdale Airports, among other properties in the region), with a sliver owned jointly by METRO (a Regional government, apparently). That being said, PDX is VERY similar in regards to attempt to make as much of a profit off of passengers and people coming in to pick up or drop off their friends and family for flights as they can. A plethora of shops with exorbitant price tags, most are "specialty" shops, cafes and restaurants, and they remodeled it with this Heathrow style in mind, though in a ridiculously smaller capacity (PDX is tiny, and can't really fit many more airlines, and has no space to expand at all, lest they somehow manage to successfully make the public intensely livid by forcing the Columbia river to be filled in. That said, there still wouldn't be much more space AT ALL. Wouldn't put it past our governments though, that's for sure).

Love the video especially because Heathrow is my favourite btw they're planning on opening a new terminal (Terminal 6) to increase the amount of flights per day. I think a plan lands or takes off about every 45 seconds so they're trying to add another terminal to increase their profits rather than depend on airlines to build larger plans with a great capacity but other than that love the video man.
