In Fellowship, I didn't like the way Boromir's moment was handled after he tried to take the ring from Frodo. On the up side for the Fellowship, it was hilarious how Aragorn flung a torch into the hooded face of one of the Nazgul and it shrieked lol I felt the same about Legolas and slightly with Gimli (because I hadn't read the books to know how he was supposed to be handled). Most of the parts were agreeable. I also wondered where Frodo's infatuation with Gollum was. I didn't see Frodo and Sam's relationship as intimate as Frodo and Gollum (although one-sided). I agree how stupid it was how easily Frodo turned on Sam. That's one thing that made me feel like it was love lol Just as I was bothered at how easily broken the bond between Frodo and Sam went, I felt it was too easily how they made up. I doubt it was. all the ring's fault, I just thought Frodo was an idiot and too into Gollum. I would have given him just a little of a hard time after saving him.

Arwen's lack of immortality has nothing to do with the ring. It's explained clearly in the movies that the Elves give up their immortality when they fall in love with a mortal. Arwen gives up her immortality for Aragorn. How is that a 'worst moment' of the trilogy? Wow.

ok no I didnt feel like "I couldnt help but laugh" when frodo succumbed to the ring, and also one of the moments you showed was frothing at the mouth after being injected with venom, not a reaction to the ring. next. fuck no don't dis gimli, I love the dwarf race and they generally are a bit wackier than humans and especially the super serious elves. you already said you weren't going to talk about film book comparisons, gimli has some fantastic lines and good funny comic relief throughout the movie! I love "certainty of death, small chance of success, what are we waiting for?". next. frodo telling sam to leave, first of all picture the situation that food ratios are already VERY low, and they're barely eating, only just enough to make it through the days and keep going. not to mention gollum way before that moment gollum planted seeds of doubt in frodos mind to break the trust between frodo and sam, and frodo wasn't mentally stable in general since they were very close to mordor and frodo having the ring. next. arwen... ok I kind of get, if I was to say something to defend it, I can watch lotr with my mum because her favourite parts are the relationships in frodo and sam, and the love story between aragorn and arwen. it's not really that bad though, it fits much better into the story that the hobbit films and peter jackson tried with tauriel. and finally. ok yes the ending does drag for a bit, but it's in no way bad, all of the ending scenes are done incredibly well. in conclusion, I maybe kind of slightly agree with number 2, but fuck you for every other one :)

This is where the movie skipped establishing parts of the book. It's made clear in the book that Merry and Pippin are considered very young by hobbit standards, as they don't come of age until they're 33 (IIRC Frodo himself is actually about 50 by the time this all starts, with Pippin being in his early/mid-20s. Merry's in his mid-30s, so an adult hobbit, but still a very young adult). They're also all related, with Merry and Pippin being cousins, and Frodo a more distant cousin. So, three grown hobbits who are just friends and companions bouncing all over the bed? Perhaps a bit weird. One grown hobbit and two much younger hobbits who happened to be family and spent most of their time hanging out together finally being reunited? Not so much. Remember Frodo has no way of knowing if ANY of the fellowship survived at that point.

God, this is retarded. Channel awesome has totally lost it with these two. What is the point of this video, when Nostalgia Critic already did it? Who wrote your scripts anyway? Damn. Okay, so no. 1) Frodo looking silly... okay... What? 2) Gimli being stupid... where have I heard that one before... on a LotR dumb moments list... on this channel! 3) Seriously, again with the Sam and Frodo gayness? Did you ever notice that before they left the Shire and the second The Ring was destroyed, Sam immediately starts yapping on about Rosie?! Also, these two had been on the road for months, stressed out, starving and constantly beaten down by The Ring and Gollum. Frodo dropping the ball makes perfect sense. Ever been on a roadtrip with a good friend for more than a week, and by the last day you can barely look at each other without throwing a tantrum. So, personal drama. Yes please. Especially in a fantasy movie with trolls and wizards. We need some humanity too. That is why LoTR is such a good fantasy movie. 4) Again with this crap?? ''I'm not even a 100% sure what this means!'' Then do some fucking research and figure it out. This list is way beyond stupid, even more so than Doug's list. Damn. 5) The endings... Really!? You should name this video ''Top 5 Worst Lord of the Rings Moments, taken from the Nostalgia Critic Top 11 Dumbest Lord of The Rings Moments, that we liked the best!'' If you don't have the patience for the endings, how did you have the patience for the rest of the trilogy? Now ask yourself this: If they cut out one or two endings.. Wouldn't that bother you?? The crowing of Aragon? eh, who cares. Frodo going to the Gray Havens? Nah, doesn't matter! Reuniting Frodo with the Fellowship? They're still alive!?. The endings are the biggest cinematic after cuddle coming from the biggest cinematic multi orgasm in movie history. That needed to happen. You just watched 10 hours of story telling, you need to decompress. You can't just have Frodo dropping the ring into Mt. Doom and then walk away from the explosion in slow motion and then roll credits. So these chicks are what Channel Awesome could muster up after all the controversy business? Damn, talk about a step backwards. Nothing against them, but this isn't what I expected from a channel with 1.1 million subs.

Oh also no one has never ever mentioned the fact that in a movie with extreme closeups on fingers it becomes obvious frodo chews his nails(or over trims them)it's really distracting and the hobbit effects really don't hold up and I remember them being bad when the movie was new gimli looks his height I got no complaints for him but the hobbits don't work when it gets to Mary and pippin and the horses I don't know how they thought that looked ok it's just awful. Also hobbits walk from icy mountains to a volcano BAREFOOT I'm convinced hobbits could of bootfucked the wraiths their feet are indestructible frodo didn't need mithril he could of just blocked all damage with the soles of his scary stompers

How did the hobbits get away from their first interaction with the ring wraith? They were like inches away he knew the ring was close so obviously throwing a bag of potatoes will make the wraith umm disappear? I don't get it? I mean if they threw a sack over a cliff and he went down to investigate fine but it's like a hobbit jumps out in the open hurled a pile of shit a few feet away and then they somehow have an escape? Can these guys smell the ring ? Are they supposed to be dumb zombies did tom bombambadillio kick the wraith in the nuts or something offscreen? Wtf?

I thought the scene where Frodo decides to tell Sam to leave was fantastic. Woods does a great job conveying that he doesn't believe a word of the story that Sam ate all the food, but is being provoked by the Ring to think that Sam will eventually steal it. The amazing thing was that he portrayed an instant where Frodo was simultaneously out of love for his friend sending him home AND sending him home because the rings influence was causing him to have hatred in his heart. Subtly like that is rare in movies, I guess because people can just miss it apparently.

Πριν 7 μήνες

None of the tacked on stuff is very good. But the single worst moment in the trilogy is by far and away the tacked on conversation Frodo has with Aragorn after Boromir tries to steal the ring from Frodo. Neither character would have said these things or acted in this way. It diminishes Frodo, who made this decision on his own in the actual story and forced it upon Aragorn by becoming invisible and eloping in a canoe. It diminishes Aragorn, who now out of the blue volunteers to irresponsibly abandon his oath to protect the Ringbearer in order to go gallivanting on a lawn in Rohan. And finally it diminishes Sam, who only figured this out in the book because he knew Frodo better than the others. But that wasn't needed in the movie because Aragorn had already figured it out and permitted Frodo to leave on his own into enemy territory, and Sam has been made redundant. I don't understand why this doesn't bug everyone as much as it bugs me. The people spending billions on making these movies obviously can't read. This is a critical junction of the story that makes zero sense in the movies. Merry and Pippin were abducted in the books specifically to force a choice on Aragorn and therefore force him to become a leader despite his reluctance. It was also a credible way to explain why Frodo and Sam were separated from the Fellowship. Because the others would have followed them otherwise, which the book makes perfectly clear. It's an intricate and finely balanced narrative construction, and the way the movie did it ruins the entire thing. Possibly the most important moment in the book along with the Council of Elrond. It was Frodo's great moment, and also Sam's as his friend. And Aragorn's as well. All three were ruined in the movie.

Tolkien himself was terrible at writing endings, and I think Jackson did the best he could, cutting out the utterly needless Scouring of the Shire, for instance. Still, there were way too many endings. I agree that Arwen’s ‘fate tied to the Ring,’ was ludicrous, but it makes a little more sense when you realize that what PJ’s trying (and failing miserably) to say is that Arwen’s fate is tied to ARAGORN. Because there is no chance that Sauron can win without Aragorn losing and dying. Arwen, with Aragorn dead, would likely just waste away and die. It was a stupid plot point thrown in for no reason, but stems from a reading that if Sauron wins, Aragorn loses and dies, and Arwen loses too because she is now tied to Aragorn. Trying to force an Aragorn/Eowyn romance was bad, too. In the book it is made pretty clear she really only has a crush on Aragorn, and that he doesn’t reciprocate her feelings because he’s fully in love with Arwen and there’s no attempt to muddy the waters in that relationship by having Aragorn consider Eowyn. My own #1 worst moment is the depiction of Sauron himself. Sauron in the books has a physical form, and it makes him far scarier than a big fiery eyeball. Sauron talks to Pippin through the Palantir. Gollum mentions seeing him and that he has 9 fingers (missing the one that Isildur cut off to take the Ring at the end of the 2nd Age). Eyeballs don’t have fingers. What on earth would he do with the Ring anyway? Stare at it forever? The decision means that the trilogy, great as it is, never has an entrant into the ‘best villains’ list because Saruman is never at Sauron’s level (and, regardless of PJ’s theatrical release cuts, is meaningless in Return of the King). I also hated the depiction of Mordor in RotK because it was way too bright. Was there no way to make it look darker? Mordor had looked right when we saw it from Fellowship until at least Sam’s rescue of Frodo from Cirith Ungol in RotK. Mordor’s supposed to be under permanent, artificial night with Sauron’s (and Mount Doom’s) smoke blocking out the sun. In the film they shot at some real volcano in New Zealand, and I suppose they could only shoot in the daylight there. I know ‘day for night,’ almost always looks terrible, but the result is that Sam is carrying Frodo up the slopes of Mount Doom under broad daylight, instead of a darkened Mordor where the only real light are the constant eruptions of Mount Doom, giving a red glow to everything. The darkness means that it is easier to understand how hard it is to find hope in their task. In the extended RotK, PJ has a scene (taken from the book), where Sam sees a star poking through a small hole in the smoke, and it gives him hope that there is still beauty, and that the dark hopelessness of Mordor isn’t total. Perhaps PJ cut it from the theatrical because it is so light when Frodo and Sam climb Mount Doom as to make the scene meaningless. Oh, and everytime Elijah Wood pronounces Mordor like ‘Mulldoor’ is annoying.

Okay so about Frodo turning on Sam about some crumbs... the whole point of them falling out over something so simple and stupid was to show just how much Frodo was being corrupted. Greed, paranoia, anger were all taking over him that he was literally blind to the facts. Top that with the fact that he pitied and saw himself in Gollum, that view was twisted to make him think Sam hated Frodo as much as he hated Gollum. We were supposed to hate Frodo for abandoning Sam that easily. Supposed to feel awful for Sam for being unheard.

Being immortal, it makes sense that Elves would see all manner of aging as "dying". So naturally when Arwen ultimately decided to stay in Middle Earth and began aging, the rest would think of this as "dying". Now as for the references of her fate being tied to Sauron and The Ring directly, I just took that to mean that if they were both not destroyed, she naturally would be all the quicker. If Arwen had left Middle Earth, Sauron would no longer have been any more concern to her as the rest of the Elves. But being that she stayed, now her happiness and safety were tied to Sauron's success or failure. Thats how I always interpreted it

Jackson diminished Arwen to "gothic ladylove of the secondary protagonist." She may have had less screentime in the books once the action was underway, but she made up for it in actual personality. Also she wove the banner Aragorn unfurled at the Battle of Pelennor Fields - black, with mithril and gold and gemstones - to serve as the first announcement that the King had returned; before that, the gift helped to encourage Aragorn to travel the Paths of the Dead. And she gave Frodo her place on the last ship to sail for the Undying Lands. Where's the mention of that in the movies? Is it too traditionally girly to count as an important role, in a franchise where "even the smallest can change the course of fate" and where hope and love are treated like divine gifts? But hey at least in the movies she gets to ride a horse, argue with her dad, and then wander around Rivendell looking vague and forlorn. Progress!

Cinema wins explained the multiple endings perfectly, the first ending is for the ring, the second ending is for the fellowship, the third ending is the ending of the war, the fourht ending is Frodo's ending, and the fifth ending is the end of the trilogly. everyone should seek out cinemawins, much more interesting than cinemasins, because it is more fun to like things.

The movie has fewer endings than the book. And they all worked and were enthralling. They didn't just randomly fade out like your video and they tied up entirely different story lines, which your mocking version didn't. People want to know what happened. It's why Star Wars felt so damn weird ending with a bunch of Ewoks that matter to no one so they added in a few cuts of different cities celebrating. It's why they threw the ghosts in at the end in the first place. It's why movies used to have "where are they now?" endings.

When you end a "moment" by telling us not to dwell on it it's evident that you know you're wrong. Have you ever seen an addict? That's what I see in Wood's reactions - like he's being drawn into a heroin-like euphoria and fighting it. Also, your comments about the Hobbits on the bed come across as ignorant. Have you seen young men get together after not seeing each other for a long time? Just like women, they too are capable of showing childlike excitement. I'll admit the scene is weird - mostly due to the laughing - but Merry and Pippin would absolutely get all up in Frodo's personal space. They thought he was dead for most of the trilogy!

I always thought the arwin dying thing was attached to her staying behind. Like the elves magic was becoming weak and sauron's was growing. So when she decides to stay behind she is basically putting her fate on whether or not the ring is destroyed. You could also look at it from the obi-wan point of view and say that if she was becoming mortal then technically she was dying. Especially with a genocidal dark lord on the loose.
